The Senior Graphic Designer draws upon a range of personal, creative, and professional experiences to develop and implement highly creative and conceptual customer experiences that support Babson’s overall marketing strategies and represent the Babson brand to effectively promote the college’s diverse offerings. As part of Creative Services, this position is supported by graphic designers, collaborates with and supports the Art Director as needed, and collaborates with other cross-functional project team members to conceptualize integrated campaigns extending to a wide range of materials and often leads projects from concept through final production for a broad base of campus partners. Specifically responsible for utilizing strong concept development skills, collaborating with integrated marketing team; working on projects across multiple marketing channels and platforms; developing and articulating creative strategies and communicating ideas effectively to individuals across all levels of the organization; establishing and maintaining relationships; and continually upgrading his/her skills and knowledge relative to design concepts, practices and tools, and stay abreast of new trends and technologies.
Partner with the Art Director to enhance the vision for campaigns, collaborate with integrated marketing team members and campus partners to conceptualize and execute creative solutions including multimedia advertising campaigns, identity solutions, environmental signage, social content, email, digital (UX and UI), apps, sales presentations, print.
Act as creative lead on assigned projects, partnering with campus partners on creative solutions and engaging integrated marketing team resources to steward the process from conceptualization to delivery.
Maintain high productivity and accuracy while completing assignments that meet scope and timelines. Identify opportunities for design process enhancement and implement improvements; log efforts in project management system to record project details and time spent.
Establish and manage relationships with printers and other external production vendors; provide bidding estimates to clients; prepare and transmit production files to external vendors; attend press checks as needed.
Attend and art direct photo shoots and videography when necessary.
Serve as project lead for requests including (but not limited to) initiatives for Admissions, Administrative Business Offices, The Centers, Academic Offices, and Student Services.
Assume additional responsibilities as required.
Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Design or Graphic Arts (or closely related field).
Additional Required Skills and Abilities:
A minimum of 5 years of agency or in-house design experience as a graphic designer.
A portfolio that displays proficiency in concept development and design implementation across media, as well as leadership in a complex organization.
Effective organization and project management skills; demonstrated creativity in meeting design goals, managing tight deadlines, and multi-tasking and prioritizing; adaptability in scheduling and customer needs.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written including storytelling and presentation ability in order to confidently justify concepts with appropriate research & reasoning.
Proven record of leading creative support team members on collaborative efforts.
Ability to effectively lead brainstorming sessions (also serving as a contributor), and to translate ideas generated to recommended tactics that can be implemented.
Expert in Adobe CC in Mac environment (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, advanced knowledge of InDesign is a must).
Experience with motion graphics and video (editing or videography).
Strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and presentation applications such as Keynote or Prezi.
Has a “digital first” approach to solutions but is practical when designing to ensure that elements will transfer to other mediums with ease.
Ability to create campaign concepts from brand strategies.
Experience in designing for a wide variety of digital platforms, understanding of web standards (HTML/CSS, usability and interactive prototyping experience).
Collaborative with strategic understanding of goals and customer needs.
Must exude a professional presence, focus on producing high quality results and demonstrate enthusiasm under pressure.
Must have strong organizational skills and outstanding attention to detail in order to manage a high volume of projects effectively and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
Ability to travel off-campus to press checks or photo/video shoots.
